    What is actually true

No official labour or education series says 50% of women reject work or school for safety, or ₹17,000 a year.

    • PLFS does not publish that 50% of women reject work because of safety.
    • UDISE+ and the Ministry of Education do not publish that 50% of women reject education because of safety.
    • No MOSPI or NFHS table in this file is an official ₹17,000 extra per year spent on safety by the average Indian woman.
    • Safety costs and restricted mobility appear in research and in some survey items. Those are not these two precise official numbers.
